I am honoured to have been named Newcomer of the Year at the Arqiva Commerical Radio Awards which took place last week. Now in their 17th year, the awards are organised by RadioCentre, the industry body for commercial radio, and recognise excellence and achievement across the whole spectrum of commercial radio output, from presenters and programming to advertising and marketing.
It was a wonderful surprise and I am thrilled that my LBC 97.3 Sunday drive-time show impressed the judges enough to win me this award.
The judges praised my ‘warmth when listening to and dealing with callers’.
This award means so much to me and as I did on the night, (to a backdrop of Christian O’Connell’s heckling!) I just want to thank Richard Park for giving me my show nearly a year ago, my wonderful producer Carl McQueen and LBC’s top management team: Louise Birt, Chris Lowrie and James Rea.
And mostly I should thank the wonderful callers who, week in and week out, share their amazing stories and spirited viewpoints on the biggest stories of the day.
Here’s to you…
